Kogi BBQ Truck: Reviews & Ratings
We came all the way from Irvine, and we couldn't find the restaurant, we just realized it's a food truck~ so if you planning to have dinner with friends and family, there is no way to sit~ we stand and ate it on the side of street ~ The food was great, no need to wait for long, they were fresh very fast, everything was great! The only thing is their food was very salty ~ so if you don't want to It's too salty ask them to add less sauce or salt. We kinda pushed ourselves to finish ~ too bad the food was yummy We ordered a burger too (no pictures ) yummy
Kogi used to have a brick and mortar here on Overland many years ago. People from LA know that the brick and mortar was a huge deal instead of chasing the Kogi truck when it used to have a 2 hour wait during the peak food truck era in LA. Now it’s a food truck. Let’s not be so confused about this. Iconic tacos and flavors that are part of the LA food scene story in the 21st century.
Note that this location is not a brick and mortar location - it is a food truck that’s parked here. That being said, it’s a super tasty and cheap option to have a quick meal. My friend and I came here prior to drinks at the Blind Barber, and ate our food in the car. If you do this, you may want to eat with the windows down since the smell is pretty strong. I got the loaded fries while my friend got the combo of tacos and a drink (no alcohol available. They have waters and sodas). The portions were generous and there was plenty of meat. The sauce was sufficiently spicy and the food came out quickly. Cash and credit cards accepted.
Large portions for the price! The short ribs were best followed by the crunchy cheesy blue moon mulita, then spicy pork tacos, but skip the squid tacos. Wish the chicken wings were more crispy but maybe that's because we didn't eat them immediately but after 10 minutes. While they could cut back on the sugar, overall the foods were all prepared well. The #3 deal with a Pac-Man burrito us great! Service was fast but it takes a while for food to come out. Atmosphere was casual.
Kogi exceeds all expectations and encompasses the perfect, authentic taste of what LA food is. Their take on Korean inspired fusion dishes are top notch and there really isn't a wrong choice. The menu and options are straightforward while offering a slight upcharge for extra meat. Their prices can't be beat for the quantity and quality of food they provide. It can be challenging finding a parking spot during busy hours, but it's worth the wait and parking hassle.
Food truck location. Short rib and spicy pork tacos are recommended. Chicken taco: ok. Tofu taco: bland. All tacos: overflowing and you’ll need a fork to eat the “remains”! Double meat: unnecessary. Korean spiced fries: surprisingly super crispy (double fried?) and is a great choice. Random street parking is hit or miss.
No idea where these reviews and photos of a brick and mortar are coming from, maybe they're old? This is a food truck in a parking lot. The tacos and burritos are good, blending Korean and Mexican food very well. We had a spicy pork burrito, two short rib tacos, a spicy pork taco, a chicken taco and a chicken adobo taco (they were out of the cebollita and aguacate taco). All were delicious. Both of our favorite meat was the spicy pork. The salsa on the more traditional Mexican style chicken taco was amazing and spicy. Glad we are in the area and could finally make it here.
Had Roy Choi’s tacos at Best Friend in Vegas so had to try one of his food trucks in LA! Went on 2 separate occasions and got the 3 taco combo, short ribs taco and the kogi hotdog. All super delicious!!! The only thing is it’s pretty messy to eat. But I guess good eats are usually messy, right? :)
